RYLEY & KAYLAR DUO
With nearly a decade of playing experience together, Kaylar & Ryley have become one of Vancouver's most prominent young power duos. The contemporary saxophone and guitar duo delight in throwing jazz, RnB, funk, and soul into the blender and turning it on to max. The result? An intimate and relaxing reimagining of stripped down classics from across the ages. With a Bachelor's Degree in Music from the University of British Columbia under her belt, Kaylar floats through boundaries of genre with a sultry sound and uninhibited ferocity. She studied her craft with Vancouver-based sax-masters Julia Nolan and Colin MacDonald, and now seeks to redefine the role of saxophone in contemporary music. Her influences draw from many contrasting sources, including the classic breathy husk of Plas Johnson, the soaring sweetness of Federico Mondelci, and the modern audacity of innovators like Moon Hooch and Too Many Zooz. https://www.kaylarsax.com |
